Value creation is a spiritual endeavour

Turning raw materials or chaos into order and beauty is a task bigger than ourselves.

An abandoned building can become an asset, raw materials can become something useful and beautiful, a new product or solution can change health, housing or transportation for humanity forever.

This value creation mirrors humanity’s role as gardeners, extending order, abundance, and care, while protecting what is good from decay and harm.

As Francis Bacon wrote, one of the greatest acts of human good is creating knowledge and inventions that improve humanity’s condition over time.

2. Value creation compounds

The parable of the talents is fundamentally about multiplication. It’s not about having the most, but stewarding well what you’ve been given and growing it.

I’ve realised I sometimes equated virtue with giving everything away, rather than building and multiplying first. Giving comes from surplus; building comes from principle.

If we truly want to help others, we should help them multiply what they have, not just distribute what we have.

3. Value creation is systemic

We don’t have wealth because we are virtuous, we have wealth because we exist inside of value creating systems that enable value to be created and compounded.

Simply distributing money without strengthening systems is ineffective. Real change comes from building value engines: institutions, norms, governance, and local capability.

Community development is long-term, relational, and complex. Donations fade; systems endure. To truly help, you must live within a community, understand it deeply, and build from within.

Ultimately:

Wealth creation often follows a Pareto distribution.

This is difficult for Christians ( including me) who believe in the equal dignity of all human life—extreme inequality can feel morally confronting.

Our instinct is to give to relieve suffering, but without understanding how value is created, sustained, and multiplied, we risk addressing symptoms rather than causes.

Business is powerful, spiritual and when done well restorative. Left wing ? Right wing? Business is cross cutting when seen through a spiritual lens.

Do You Trust What You See?

Seeing starts on the inside.

Jen Bishop

If you are not sure whether your “philosophy of life” or “inner work” is important contemplate this......

The Netflix series “Undercover Billionaire” dropped a seasoned businessman in a town with some petty cash, no contacts and no reputation.

Using an alias name, he has the challenge to create a business valued over $1m in just 90 days.

How does it do it? (spoiler alert)....

Partnerships.

Through a combination of relationship building, vision casting and trust building he is able to win partnerships with local business owners to launch and sell marketing services from their branch office.

After closing several 6-figure deals the new business is valued at over $1m in 3 months from nothing.

Get the right people in the right room, see problems, envision solutions, build trust, create coherence - these seem simple enough.

What we often underestimate is the huge amount of confidence, sense of self, and skill development required to create value from nothing.

Yet this is what creative people, entrepreneurs and scientists do all the time - they approach a chaotic state, a blank slate, random variables and apply hypotheses rapidly, build connections, spot opportunities and build steadily.

Maybe creating wealth, a happy relationship, reputation or happiness is less about luck, virtue or merit and more about building an internal architecture of “seeing” the world accurately.

We can think being cynical is wise, lest others get the other hand.

We can think being generous and trusting the gods is how we win favour.

In fact, what we need is a blueprint installed into our minds, a philosophy, a framework of thinking and seeing, that has a base layer of confidence the world is ordered, of dignity that our consciousness is equal to the challenge, and creative courage to see we can turn straw (random ingredients) in to gold.

This is why I believe the bible is such a radical text, not because it’s full of laws on life but because its full of stories that continually affirm that humans when centered in their fundamental value and identity in God are up to the challenge of creating beauty from ashes.

Like branches connected to a vine, they bear fruit tirelessly.

Check your roots 🍇🌿

Discovering Your Super Power

It's hidden in plain sight.

Jen Bishop

I want to share with you a secret I’ve been learning recently, about how to tap into your super power..... your magic.

Do you recall a moment as a child you were conscious of your own thoughts..... the moment you knew that you were you?

Around this time you start to ask question like:

“Does everyone see the same colour blue?”

or

“Does everyone experience the same reality?”

At points you stop hearing a word and it loses its meaning. Suddenly your own language starts to sound like a bunch of sounds.

Thinking about thinking is a developmental stage called “meta cognition”. This it holds an amazing secret for each of us.

In truth we all do see the world differently - we are each of us having a unique experience of this shared reality.

We all sense the world in a unique way, we process information and we see and solve problems differently.

The rarest thing about you, s the most natural thing for you.

This magic is probably invisible to you because its closest thing to “being you” that exists.

Here’s where it gets wild.

If you stop trying to be normal and provide a practical and helpful service to society, and you lean into what makes you unique, then you start to shape reality.

(If you believe we are all born for a reason, and each of us given a unique piece to play in this grand story, then lean in even closer to this.)

Who you are, your unique self, is in your intuition.

To sharpen your intuition, you need to feel deeply. As you feel deeply, your feeling of self will expand in relation to opponents and antagonists.

As you feel big, you will find your senses are sharpened.

It’s a bit like being able to zoom in and see the world in specific detail. It’s like slowing down time, moving like Neo in the Matrix, dodging bullets.

This ability to see reality is the magic of who you are. This unique vision means you can act, build and solve uniquely.

This acumen is your high value; this is not a commodity.

We all feel we belong at Hogwarts, or are a Jedi. Who we are is magic.

We move things, we lift things, we travel through time differently.

The world will move around you but only when you feel everything deeply.

Slow down, focus on your intuition. You might be surprised what you feel.

🔥 I’m Jen and I help founders to see, build and compound value. status that we desire, we confer intelligence, goodness, strength, and we ally ourself with them to borrow their power.

We defer to them, compliment, befriend, praise, and otherwise abase ourselves in the hope and expectation that they will save us from our own fears.

We heap expectation upon them, and put them on a pedestal.

If and when it becomes clear they might not take all our pain away or relieve us of all our fears - we dethrone them.

Not only do we stop deferring to them, but we are indignant of their betrayal and the trick they played upon us.

Without realising we cannibalised them, seeking their confidence to fill our insecurity.

There is a lot of ´buzz’ these days about narcissists, who they are, and how to pick them.

How about the need to outsource our power in the first place ?

And how does our relationship to God reflect this cannibalisation?

Do we dethrone God when all our desires are not satisfied despite our devotion?

If God has a human face, God would look like Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus took all the hatred of the ones doing their best to please God, the religious law abusers, trying to assuage their fears of being human.

He showed back sacrificial love despite their anger and violence.

Most importantly he showed what human dignity and power is - not someone who needs to climb hierarchy for power and acceptance - nor someone who needs to oppress others or demand allegiance to prove their might.

God is most present when the
